Therapy Assistant/Activities Coordinator Course

This 5-day course is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the role of the Therapy Assistant / Activities Coordinator and the skills and knowledge required to assist the therapist.

This course can open up new career opportunities for care workers. Class participation and written assignments are essential requirements for successful completion of this course.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the possibilities and limitations of the Therapy Assistant’s / Activities Coordinator’s role
  • Contribute information to the care planning process
  • Work according to the care plan
  • Document work activities and observations
  • Use effective communication techniques to establish rapport with aged and disabled people
  • Aid aged and disabled people to adapt to the effects of illness, injury and disability
  • Assist with the use of aids and equipment
  • Organise, resource and deliver a broad range of group activities

 

On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following 2 units:

  • CHCGRP001 – Support group activities
  • CHCGRP002 – Plan and conduct group activities

 

A recommended pathway for further study: CHC43415 – Certificate IV in Leisure and Health

 

Assessment
Class participation and written assignments are essential requirements for successful completion of this course. ​
