Diploma of Health Administration

The Diploma of Health Administration has been exclusively developed by the AMA to cater for the needs of middle managers in the health, aged care and community sectors.

The AMA undertook extensive industry consultation in the development of this nationally recognised qualification and is proud to say it is now one of the AMA’s flagship qualifications.

The Diploma addresses the unique mix of responsibilities that face our modern healthcare managers, from infection control, ethical leadership, health funding, team management, customer service and report writing skills.

The Diploma of Health Administration is an ideal qualification for current or aspiring Facility Managers, Regional Managers, Nurse Unit Managers and Allied Health Managers, and is delivered via AMA Training Service’s unique and engaging Assisted Study Program.

The Assisted Study Program  (ASP) strikes a balance between equipping you with the skills you need to complete your studies and maintaining your work/life balance (see more about the ASP in the Course Delivery section below).

AMA Training Services is a Study Loans accredited training provider, which gives eligible students the ability to spread the cost of their studies over a period of up to four years. (see more about Study Loans in the Course Fee section below).

Assisted Study Program Delivery

The Assisted Study Program (ASP) was designed to ensure our students benefit from a rich and structured learning experience without losing flexibility along the way. Under the ASP, two units of competency are completed per school term, which keeps school holidays free from study. During the term, students are provided with weekly lectures via the AMA's virtual classroom environment. These lectures generally last for one hour. There are generally two such lectures per week, one per unit. The lectures are delivered live and the virtual classroom allows for a high level of interaction with students. However, we realise that not all students will be able to join the live online lectures, and as such these sessions are recorded and made available to all students to watch at their leisure.

For each term, students are given a comprehensive term planner, which shows when lectures are delivered as well as the recommended reading and project work to accompany that unit. There are no exams, the qualification is completed entirely by coursework. The technology is easy to use and has no cost attached to it for the student. Our program is specifically catered to suit students from a variety of professional and educational backgrounds.

Finally, the ASP offers numerous workshops and seminars throughout the term which align with the units being undertaken. These workshops and seminars are delivered at our head office in Nedlands but streamed live (and recorded) for regional and interstate students. The seminars and workshops often feature guest speakers and offer a great value-add experience for our students.

Students also benefit from having access to industry-qualified and highly experienced lecturers to share their learning journey with them.

Three units are delivered in a self-paced format which means that interested students can commence their studies at any time, and then join the next upcoming ASP term.

This is what our students have to say about the ASP:

“The guidance and support from the lectures makes it very enjoyable. I have already been able to action a few things at our practice.” – V. Yates

“The interactive live online lectures are awesome! The way the Diploma is delivered through online lectures and seminars throughout the term really reinforces what you’re learning.  As a busy working mother of 3 I love the fact that the lectures are recorded. Gives you that flexibility to juggle work, study and family life.” – Sarah R

"The lectures are very informative and the lecturers always there to guide you if you hit any obstacles." – A. Ingram
