Certificate III in Health Services Assistance

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance reflects the role of a variety of workers who use a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge to provide assistance to health professional staff for the care of clients.  Health services assistance involves the worker in direct and non-direct client contact under supervision.

HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work with basic information about the uhman body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body.

CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to apply basic infection prevention and control principles in work settings including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to risks.

HLTWHS001 Participate in work health and safety

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required for workers to participate in safe work practices to ensure their own health and safety, and that of others.

BSBMED301 Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to understand and erspond to instructions; to carry out routine tasks and communicate with a range of internal/external clients in a medical environment; as well as use appropriate medical terminology.

BSBWOR301 Organise personal work priorities and development

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to organise own work schedules, to monitor and obtain feedback on work performance and to maintain required levels of competence.

CHCAOD002  Work with clients who are intoxicated

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to respond to the immediate and ongoing needs of people intoxicated by alcohol and/or other drugs, with a focus on harm minimisation.

HLTAID011 Provide first aid

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

CHCAGE001 Facilitate the empowerment of older people

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to respond to the goals and aspirations of older people and provide support services in a manner that focuses on improving health outcomes and quality of life, using a person-centred approach.

CHCCCS020 Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to respond effectively to behaviours of concern of people. Skills are associated with handling difficult incidents rather than managing ongoing behaviour difficulties.

CHCCCS002 Assist with movement

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support people who require assistance with basic physical movement which may be due to incapacity.

BSBFLM312 Contribute to team effectiveness

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the effectiveness of the work team. It involves planning with the team to meet expected outcomes, developing team cohesion, participating in and facilitating the work team, and communicating with the management of the organisation.

CHCDIS007 Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to facilitate the empowerment of people with disability to deliver rights based services using a person-centred approach. It should be carried out in conjunction with individualised plans.

CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish relationships, clarify needs, and then work collaboratively with people who are living with mental health issues.

This qualification is typically completed within a 12 month period though it can take longer if completed as part of an on-the-job traineeship program.

Self Paced Learning

Each participant will be provided with a series of learning resources. The learning resources are easy to follow with some graphics included to help during the Training Program. On completion of the learning resources, assessments are then conducted. AMA trainers / assessors are contactable at any time by telephone or email.

1 units must be completed in the classroom.

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

To achieve this qualification with this specialisation, students must also complete at least 80 hours of work in the context where students have the exposure to assist with nursing care according to a client care plan and direction of a registered nurse. Students are welcomed to arrange work placement themselves, AMA Training Services will help secure placements if needed. (WA only)

 

Course Fee (non-traineeship): $2,450.00* (price may reduce in case of credit transfer/national recognition of units)

Course Fee (new worker traineeship): $1,452.75** (concession rates may apply). The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student Service and Resource fees.

*Payment for this qualification is spread over four equal instalments of $612.50, collected in three month intervals as outlined below.  

  1. The first instalment is due upon receipt of enrolment, and once paid will give students access to their first set of units.
  2. After three months, or if a student requests access to new units earlier, students will be invoiced for the second instalment and upon payment will gain access to their next set of units.
  3. This process will continue until all four instalments are paid and the qualification is completed.
